Cameron has always had a passion for working with and helping others, which led to the pursuit of a single subject teaching credential from CSU Channel Islands. As a teacher, he worked to facilitate learning environments in which students were empowered to be active participants and engage in critical discussions surrounding their education. After six years of teaching in California, Texas, and Louisiana, Cameron joined the 2019-2020 cohort at UCSB's Gevirtz Graduate School of Education with a goal of gaining further knowledge and skills required to be an effective agent of change in education. He hopes to continue to work with pre-service and in-service teachers after completing his doctoral studies at UCSB with the ultimate hope of affecting systemic change that leads to equitable and sustainable opportunities for minoritized students and communities.
