Walter Aminger is a fifth-year doctoral student with an emphasis in Science Education working with Dr. Julie Bianchini at UCSB. He received his B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of West Florida with a minor in Spanish in 2005 and his M.S.T. in Biology from the University of West Florida in 2009. After his graduate work, he spent almost five years teaching high school sciences (Biology and Chemistry) in Arizona. During this time, he successfully developed and implemented the new science curriculum and helped students master the state standard test (AIMS). Though his research interests are relatively broad, he is interested in science education, multi-lingual students, and reform-based instruction. Walter also enjoys working with pre-service teachers and helping them better support multi-lingual students in their science classrooms.
