Kayce is a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at UC Davis. Her research interests include understanding the beliefs, histories, and values of preservice mathematics teachers and their instructional practices. Kayce received her B.A. in Mathematics and Elementary Education (2005) and her multiple and single subject teaching credentials (2006) from Humboldt State University. In 2013, Kayce earned her Masters in Educational Technology from Sacramento State. Kayce's K-12 experience includes teaching secondary mathematics, running a robotics after-school program, organizing and facilitating secondary mathematics teacher development for WJUSD, and coaching girls basketball and track. Currently, Kayce is a supervisor for secondary mathematics teacher candidates at UC Davis and enjoys the opportunity to pursue her passion and desire to work in the field of teacher education. Kayce's research strives to understand, in detail, the connections between teachers' mathematical life stories, the role of teacher belief, and mathematical identity as related to teaching mathematics. Kayce examines the influences on development and implementation of preservice secondary mathematics teachers' instructional practice over the course of their credential year.
