Cultivating Equity in STEM Education Using Ethnic Studies

Miriam Burnett, Graduate Student Researcher, UC Santa Barbara

In this workshop we will be having conversations about experiences within STEM classrooms where not having both technical and soft skills may hinder academic performance of students  traditionally not represented within STEM. Guidelines will be given that enable teachers to promote and advocate for equity and inclusion. Together we will  have moments of self reflection and group talks about how teachers can come together to recognize that all students have the capacity to learn and benefit from STEM education.
