Lesson Study Protocol to Enhance Development in Practice and to Foster Collegial Conversation
Johnnie Wilson, Lecturer/Supervisor, UC Santa Cruz
Johnnie presents a Lesson Study Protocol he developed with his beginning teachers. Teacher candidates and supervisors meet together to hold Collegial Conversations on cases of teaching set out by the candidates. Candidates learn how to hold such conversations, reflect on their fieldwork through their presentations, comment on the teaching of peers, and build a supportive community. Supervisors are given windows into candidates’ field work, find and work themes across the cases, and demonstrate the virtues of reflective practice.
